Paul Arthur Bauer, 62, of Anoka, MN returned to his heavenly home on March 8, 2019. He had been a resident of Park River Estates Nursing home in Coon Rapids since he suffered a stroke in December of 2016 which caused him the loss of speech as well as other complications. He is dearly missed by his loved ones, who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator.

Paul was born to the late Sylvan and Shirley Bauer on March 22, 1956 in Anoka, MN where he grew up in a very large and loving family with 16 children.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Matthew and Daniel Bauer.

Paul is survived by his wife Madelyne, his son Peter (Micky) Bauer, his daughters Jill (Kyle) Brehm and Katelin (Chad) Brown and eleven grandchildren, four sisters and nine brothers, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Paul joined the Army after high school at age 19 and served in active duty from 11-5-75 to 11-4-78. He then graduated from Anoka Ramsey Community College with a degree of Associate in Arts in June of 1980. Paul then developed an interest in and pursued an education in computer programming and made that his life’s work at which he excelled.

Paul and Madelyne were married at St. Stephen’s church in Anoka on 6-4-82. Paul was religious, kind and soft spoken and remained an active member of St. Stephens’s church. After surviving brain cancer surgery in January 1991 he immediately returned to his programming job and church activities until he suffered a stroke in summer 2002 and could no longer work. Still hoping to work, he pursued a course in massage therapy from which he graduated but never was able to make a career.
